History
Edinburgh West was formed in 1981 by a small group of enthusiasts who wanted a friendly, smoke-free club for adult and junior players.
Its current location is the Saughtonhall Community Association Hall after meeting for many years in Davidson Mains Parish Church Halls.
Over the years, the club has won the Richardson Cup; the top division of the Edinburgh League and Scottish National Chess League; and the Edinburgh Summer Cup.
The club has occasionally competed outside Scotland: in 1997 it played a strong Slough side in the UK wide National Club Championship and in 2013 participated in the Euro Club Cup in Rhodes.
